Sam’s Club- Converting closed stores into e-commerce hubs

Sam’s Club is the one which is converting shuttered stores into e-commerce fulfillment centers.
As stated in Chicago Tribune, the retailer will repurpose a 150,000-square-foot. By the end of the year, In January Chicago-area Sam’s Club stores are closed as an online business for fulfillment center. In Addition to this the stores are going to become a regional hub for deliveries to clients of online purchases by Sam’s Club members within a several-hundred-mile radius of Chicago. People from far areas will easily get what they want. This will be Sam’s Club’s second store retrofitted as a fulfillment center. The retailer converted a 130,000-square-foot store in Memphis, Tenn., into a fulfillment center in June.


The warehouse club said it would close 63 stores and retrofit 12 of them as e-commerce fulfillment centers.
According to the retailer it is considering conversions in the mid-Atlantic, Southern California, Florida, Texas, and the Northeast.
