Amazon’s impact on e-commerce, smart speakers and streaming quantified in Mary Meeker’s massive tech report

According to Mary Meeker internet trends reports Amazon was successfully able to extend its branches over the tech worlds and win dominant position all over the tech market.
A 294 slides presentation was presented at recodes code 2018 conference, it was observed that a lot of time was spent on Ecommerce, an area where Amazon holds the position of a king. The meeker report says that Amazons share bounced up from 20% in 2013 to 28% in the present year.
Although E commerce is giving the traditional retail market a tough competition but it is not the biggest fish in the market. Meekers report states that the contribution to US sales from Ecommerce rose up to 13% from 5% in 10 years which means it is advancing on a quick pace.

Although Amazon enjoyed the advantage of an early lead in the smart speaker market it could not enjoy the benefits for a long duration. According to Meekers reports there are 30 million Amazon echo devices that have been installed in the US and the speaker Alexa has been stocked up to 40,000 to be sold.
Amazons audience is increasing due to a vast number of mobile users.  Amazon has an approximated value of 100 million subscribers worldwide and its biggest competition is Netflix which has 125 million subscribers.
There’s another site named twitch which is a gaming site and ever since Amazon has bought it for around $ 1 billion in 2014. Since this time the number of hours spent by user s streaming this website has increased rapidly.
The report has engulfed all the topics ranging from e commerce, to Smartphone’s sales, to the evolving cloud technology and to the household spending and office work. It has also managed to maneuver into a controversial topic which is immigration.
Meeker states in her report that 56% of the high tech companies were created by the efforts of immigrants. These companies include Uber, WeWork, SpaceX, OfferUp, and instacart. The owners of all these companies are first generation immigrants. The CEO of Amazon Jeff Bezos and Apple founder Steve Jobs are both known to be second-generation immigrants, moreover the co-founder of Google Sergey Brin and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin are first-generation immigrants.
