Are All Handheld Device Users Making The Purchase
Customers love to surf the web on their handheld devices; in fact so much that half of the web traffic is created by mobile phones / tablets. These users would like to browse the items on handheld devices they are interested in and why not! The devices are handy and are always on (unlike a pc). However, not all customers like to take the final call of buying on the small devices because of various concerns like security, poor visibility because of small screen size etc.
Web pages /Apps open in different formats in handheld devices (than in a PC) to optimize the space. Because of which sometimes, the customer is unable to see the minute details of the product ( for e.g. description, reviews etc.) and therefore cannot take the final call to buy the product. The Absence of anti-virus on the handheld device can also be a reason of why the customer doesn’t want to pay online (for the fear of the card data being compromised).
Customers would like to have a seamless shopping experience once they have logged in on their PC. They want the same screen what they left on their mobiles. Businesses need to ensure that this happens. They can send the customers a reminder by email of the products they visited on their mobiles to help customers taking the final call and make the purchase. These emails can also include on the spot offer/discounts (if any) since now the businesses know that the customer is interested in specific products.
A number of surveys show that the revenue generated by mobile sessions is lesser compared to the research session done on mobile devices. In a nutshell, customers would like to research on mobile phones and take the final call on their desktops. Businesses need to ensure that these customers are given enough options to make the purchase. At the same time, it should be ensured that customers are not unnecessarily spammed with emails.
